SSL gives your website the padlock and https://. On HostBring cPanel hosting it is free and switches itself on.
1. Connect your domain first
SSL can only be issued once your domain points to your hosting. In Hosting → your hosting → Websites, the domain must show Connected. If it doesn't, see Connect your domain with HostBring DNS.
2. Wait for SSL active
As soon as the domain is connected, we ask cPanel to issue a certificate for it straight away. In the Websites card you see:
- Setting up SSL… while it is being issued (usually a few minutes).
- SSL active with a padlock once it is in place.
The certificate renews by itself before it expires.
3. If it doesn't switch on
We check again every hour, retry a few times, and our team is told if it still fails. Common reasons:
- The domain's
wwwrecord is missing or points somewhere else. - On Cloudflare, an orange-cloud record can block the check for a while.
Still waiting after a day? Open a support ticket and we sort it out.
4. Use https in your website
If your site was built with http:// links (for example in WordPress settings), change them to https:// so browsers show the padlock on every page.
