File Manager in cPanel lets you upload your website's files from your browser.
1. Open File Manager in the right folder
- In the portal, open Hosting and click your hosting.
- In Websites, click Upload files on the row of the website. (For your main website you can also use Upload files in the cPanel card.)
File Manager opens in that website's folder:
| Website | Folder |
|---|---|
| Main domain | public_html |
| Added domain | public_html/yourdomain |
2. Upload your files
The quickest way is to upload one .zip file.
- On your computer, put your website files in a
.zipfile. Your home page should be calledindex.htmlorindex.php. - In File Manager, click Upload and choose the zip. Wait until it shows 100%.
- Click Go Back to … to return to the folder.
3. Extract the zip
- Right-click the zip and choose Extract, then confirm the same folder.
- Make sure
index.html(orindex.php) is directly in the folder, not inside another folder. If it is inside one, open that folder, select everything, and Move it up one level. - Delete the zip.
ImportantA file called
default.html or index.html from an earlier site in the folder can show instead of your new site. Remove the old one.4. Check your site
Open your domain in a browser. If you still see the old page, refresh with Ctrl+F5 (Cmd+Shift+R on Mac).
